CITY COMMISSION

The City of Aztec is a Commission-Manager Form of Government and serves as the County Seat for San Juan County. In a Commission-Manager Form of Governemtn, each commissioner shall be elected for each district but shall be voted on at large (§ 3-14-6 NMSA 1978). The Mayor is then selected among the five (5) commissioners when they convene for their first meeting (§ 3-14-10 NMSA 1978).

Commission Meetings are held every second and fourth Tuesday of every month, beginning at 6:00 pm. Periodically a workshop precedes a meeting and may begin sometime between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. The meetings are held at City Hall in the city municipal complex on 201 West Chaco, Aztec, New Mexico.
