NM 173 Utilities
New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) started reconstruction of NM 173 (Navajo Dam Road) in 2022. Being conducted in phases, the initial reconstruction phase began within the city limits of Aztec. As such all utilities within the NMDOT Right-of-Way had to be relocated.
Phases 1 - 3 (Water Utilities)
The main water line that feeds the East water tank and East Aztec Water Users had to be replaced. This project was phased due to funding. Phase 1 was cnstructed and consists of 8,570 ft of water line. Phase 2 (1,800 ft) and Phase 3 (4,800 ft) have not been constructed and await funding.
Phase 1 & 2 (Electric Utilities)
The current electric lines had to be relocated.
• Final design done.
• Construction in FY25.
Phase 1 (Hydrant Services)
• Hydrant relocation completed.
